Morrisons Food Boxes

I’ve always enjoyed cooking & with the exception of the odd meal out or a cheeky takeaway all of our dinners are homemade and with so many people offering recipe food boxes now I was excited to be trialing the new Morrisons food box. Whether you’re ordering for yourself or sending one to someone else, Morrisons have created a range of food boxes to be delivered straight to yours – or someone else’s door with lots of different options including gifts, flowers, food boxes and so much more. We had promptly delivered the 5 Meals to Feed a Family of 4 Box priced at a very reasonable £30.

The food boxes are delivered by DPD chilled and insulated so if your not home when they are delivered your food will stay fresh until you get back.

Packed With Fresh Ingredients

Packed with all the ingredients and recipes needed to cook up 5 delicious dishes, including classics such as Spaghetti Bolognese and new favourites to add to your repertoire such as Rosti-Topped Cottage Pie it really did take the hassle out of deciding what to have for dinner without having to plan. With that said I found that the dates on the individual products dictated which meals we were going to have when and started by arranging the recipe cards, which are included in the box into that order.

Recipe Cards

The recipe cards, although the text is duplicated in many places were easy to follow and we started the week with Spaghetti Bolognese a firm family favourite in our house. I normally make my own Spaghetti Bolognese from scratch and this recipe was much different to what we are used to, my earliest concern having a house full of fussy eating lads was the fact the meal was packed with lots of fresh vegetables which were provided with the food box. My concerns were soon alleviated when everyone’s plates were swiftly cleared.

On night two we had the Rosti Topped Cottage Pie and out of all the delicious meals over the five nights this was the only one that was not a success. Being Scottish we all like good old fashioned Cottage Pie made with homemade gravy so thick you could stand your cutlery in it and as tasty as the dish was it was just much different to what we are used to.

Undeterred on night 3 we tried the Sausage Tray Bake, I don’t know about anyone else but sausages are one of those foods that my boys can eat lots of without a second thought, although there was more than enough to feed a family of four I was met with an “Is there any left?” from everyone which can only mean it was a resounding success and latterly declared delicious! By night four and five I was apprehensive as it was the vegetable based dinners, we had the Vegetable Chilli With Wedges and Vegetable Pasta Bake consecutively, both equally tasty and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone it only left one thought in my head. How much more nutritious vegetables can I pack into our meals without anyone bothering??!

Vegetable Pasta Bake

Overall Morrisons food boxes are great value for money packed with fresh, quality ingredients and I’d be happy to purchase a 5 Meals to Feed a Family of 4 Box in future perhaps with an introduction of other meals and recipe ideas.
